The first attempt will be made in 2004/5 by a British
television team. The emphasis is not on time, but achieving the goal
of circumnavigating the globe using zero harmful emissions, additionally
interviewing technology pioneers around the world to draw attention
to transporation issues and raise the profile of the challenge.
Using today’s technology, scientists and engineers
estimate that it is possible to circumnavigate the globe within 80 days.
The technology to be implemented by 2010 will enable a circumnavigation
to take place in 10 days and it is hoped that it can be achieved within
2 days by 2030 — our aim is to recognise and award these pioneers.
