Background
Richard
began his career at General Electric, pioneering the implementation
of technologies that enabled US and Asian manufacturers, retailers,
transport companies and customs agencies to implement Quick Response
and Just in Time strategies. Success was attributed to bringing together
diverse trading organisations and facilitating collaboration through
UN/EDIFACT working groups to produce common working standards for electronic
messaging.
In 1995 he co founded
J2 Inc. In this entrepreneurial environment he managed a portfolio of
projects including the design and development of the technology; selection
and management of the technology partners; business development and
marketing which were instrumental in the successful NASDAQ IPO. The
company currently has annual revenues in excess of $100M and a market
capitalisation exceeding $500M (NASDAQ:JCOM).
On returning to
London in 1999, Richard became a Director of VI PLC. With responsibility
for Corporate and Business Development, he was deeply involved in the
initial floatation on the AIM market and subsequent upgrade to the LSE.
The objective was to achieve high-growth, and he led the purchase and
integration of 2 companies and opened the New York office.
